How I became a freelance writer

It is easy to tell yourself that the little annoyances you travel through every day are just the way things are. But after years of trekking through the muck, you may ask yourself DOES IT REALLY HAVE TO BE THIS WAY FOREVER?

A couple years ago, with another milestone birthday approaching, I decided it was time for me to make a transition in my life. Leaving behind the excitement of working for a corporation, I prepared myself to work from home as a freelance writer working primarily on information content for small business websites. Writing was always a big part of my job and a task I enjoyed. But, I had a lot to learn about writing for a living.

My clients have afforded me fascinating and enjoyable assignments and I provide a few comments they have made about our work together in Client Comments.

Although most of what I have written is work-for-hire, owned by my clients, I have some pieces that can be shared in Writing Samples. You are also invited to see thoughts about writing on my Alternating Currents blog.

I am delighted with this transition in my life. I have "met" many interesting people and had the opportunity to learn about an extraordinary range of topics that are important to small businesses. As I researched web content for my articles, I found several Writing resources that helped me and that others may find useful. I sincerely appreciate the knowledge and technique sharing by these professionals.

The most important thing I learned through this transition is that change is not only possible, it is rewarding in many, sometimes unexpected, ways.
